FEUDALISM
-The period of feudalism came into being after the death of the
powerful ruler, Charlemagne, in 1814 when there was
decentralization of government.
Feudalism was the system of land tenure based upon the allegiance
and service to the nobleman or lord.
The lord who owned was called the fief who let out the land to a
subordinate who was called his vassal.
Two choice for the son of a noble man:
1. To train for the church and become a clergy
2. To enter to the chivalry and become a knight
Latter- was a kind of education that was physical, social
and military in nature.
-at the age of seven a boy worked as page to some
noblemen.
-at the age of 14 the boy became a squire and he was to be
attached to a knight
-at the age of 21 he was conferred as knighthood
