Experimental Essays- Presented by John Dalton in

1803 on the nature of Gases.

- Father of Modern Atomic Theory
Quantitative Measurement of Mass in describing
chemical reactions- one of the most important
factors in the acceptance of Dalton’s work.
 He conducted an experiment using closed
container and demonstrated that the mass of
the product is the same as the mass of
starting reactants. There is no detectable
change in mass when chemical reactions
occur.
 He introduced the significance of mass as a
characteristic of an element, and perhaps
most importantly, it was able to encourage
other scientist to perform quantitative
experiments in determining accurate values
for the atomic mass.
Antione Vann Lavoisier- was first performed
the said experiment and regarded as the Father
of Modern Chemistry.
Their result lead to the Law of Conservation of
Mass. He deduced that all of the atoms of a
certain element were similar in size and mass
while atoms of different elements had different
masses.
 His work was an important milestone in the
development of chemistry as a quantitative
science.
 Therefore, the concept of atom is indivisible
is not anymore true. And the modern view of
atom proposed that atoms are made of sub-
atomic particles namely proton, neutron and
electron.
