Pitch For Multi-Cam

JESS O’HARA
IDEA

The whole class decided to work together as it would not only be time efficient and the quality would be
far better, but it would also bring more ideas together without anyone plagiarizing someone’s idea or
being upset with their separate projects.
Originally, we were going to film a live performance of a band playing for BBC Introducing. However, the
the timeline didn’t work out for us because if we waited until the date the band would be ready, we
wouldn’t have the video completed in time to be reviewed. So, we’ve changed our idea.
We changed our idea to a Documentary/Talk Show styled live programme where a host would introduce
a few guests at a time and talk them through their specific work. This Documentary/Talk Show will be titled
‘The Hegarty Show’.
TIMELINE PLAN

The whole project will place over roughly a month and a half.
In December 2019, we will start rehearsals so that everyone will know what they are going to do. Where
all the camera’s pan to, what the host and guests will say, how the editor should switch which camera is
viewed live and so on.
In the beginning of January 2020, we will film the whole thing in one go. Of course we have a time limit
and everyone needs to stay focused on their tasks for this to come out the way it is expected.
A few mishaps are bound to happen, but we will deal with them accordingly when that time comes.
WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

It is going to be an insightful talk-show based documentary that will exclusively talk about what troubles
today’s youth has to deal with as well as the political issues we’re going through, drink driving and why it’s
bad and history that not many people are actually aware of even though it’s an important part of Derry’s
history.
WHY ARE WE MAKING THIS?

It will be targeting people aged 18-24, however it’s for everyone who wants to learn, who want to be
aware or who need the help and information relating to the topics we discuss.
We are aiming to give young people a voice and help others who are having trouble with their issues ask
for help. We have the opportunity to work with both Aware Defeat Depression and Foyle Search and
Rescue, and the projects created will give them both more public attention.
We also want to let the audience know about the effects and dangers of drinking and driving to steer
people away from doing so as it’ll likely end badly.
Politics and history are very important parts of our lives and it’s always a good idea to keep up to date
with them, especially over things that are either not known about at all or they’re difficult to understand
and need to be simplified.
This is why we’re making this.
WHO WILL IT BENEFIT?

It will benefit Youtube, as it will be uploaded there, by bringing in viewers from many different but similar
products, such as the Graham Norton show. Many people will be able to view it online for free, especially
if they share it through other platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. This allows a lot of people to
gain more knowledge from the topics and they can generate their own thoughts and opinions on them,
now knowing what they’re about and who it could affect.
WHERE WILL IT BE LOCATED?

We will be using the TV Studio located in the Northland Building’s 3rd floor, North West Regional College.
The reason for this is; it’s time and cost efficient but it already has the space and look that we want for the
set-up.
BUDGET

There will be no budget on the project as we already have the equipment and software necessary to
create the documentary. However, if needed, the cost for travel and food will be paid for by the crew.
OUTCOME

What we hope the outcome for this will be, is that Derry will start to improve on not only their mental health
systems that aren’t doing enough in my opinion to actually help people in need, but to also acknowledge
the fact that their laws will indeed affect a lot of innocent and young people in negative ways if they
don’t change it.
We want to change our city for the better.
