Open Air Theatres or OATs are usually incorporated into designs where
there is an emphasis on site planning. They serve various functions by
virtue of their orderly semi-enclosed space in a otherwise open
landscape. An OAT caters majorly to the following purposes:
BACKSTAGE:
The green rooms should be as near the wings as possible without causing
interferences. There should be at least:
• One toilet for 6 persons.
• One wash basin for every 4 persons.
• Sufficient urinals.
AISLES:
Seats could be at least five aisles, 2 down the center, 2 down the outside
and one cross aisle between the break in slopes.
• Side aisles- 1.9 mts wide
• Center aisles- 2.5 mts wide
