movements involved in shooting an arrow.... If you've perfected all the
elements, you can't help but hit the center of the target.“

c) Yuvon focus was always first on sustainability and then business which
was his philosophy of working.

d) Chouinard was one of thefirst of a group of CEOs to commit 10% of

their companiesprofits or 1% of their sales (whichever was greater)
towardscharitable initiatives. He also propelled the organic
cottonindustry during the 1990s to improve Patagonia's supply chain

first U.S. manufacturers of carpet tiles, also
known as modular carpet or carpet squares.

Interface grew to become the largest carpet-tile

maker in the world.

For 21 years Interface operated instinctively

under the traditional industrial model of ‘take-
make-waste’, being heavily reliant on fossil fuels
for their products, transportation and
manufacturing.
RAY ANDERSON AND HOW HE TRANSFORMED HIS
COMPANY? In the early ‘90s a customer asked, "What's your company doing for
the environment?“
When Ray realized he couldn't answer this question, he created a
company task force to solve it.
Ray Anderson drove his inspiration from Paul Hawken’s “The Ecology
of Commerce” which changed his perspective on business and
sustainability.
He shook the foundations of the petroleum-intensive carpet
manufacturing industry by declaring that Interface was committed to
becoming the world’s first environmentally sustainable
Ray formed the Eco Dream Team, which included the expertise of
authors, activists, scientists, and entrepreneurs and launched “Mount
Sustainability” as a symbol of the size and scope of the mission.
