1. Introduction of MDT

MDT is a Mobile Apps developed by Huawei, to support link commissioning and basic
test with a hand phone only.

It supports configuration by both the script and manual way, and also supports basic
link test such as RSL and XPD test.

It supports multiple way to connect to RTN, including WiFi, AP, and USB direct
connect(on new version RTN900).
2. Download MDT and Register
Two ways to download MDT App:

1. QR Code 2. By Link Below

https://app.huawei.com/mdt/resource/apk/mdt.apk

Note:
For the time being, the MDT App may be
upgraded to newer versions.

As long as new version is released, you will

get prompt to upgrade, when you log in to
your project.
2. Download MDT and Register
Register when you first join a new project:

Switch to “Professional Mode”

3. Hardware Ready
1. Make sure the WiFi Modules are correctly installed on
RTN380AX.
2. Power on the RTN.
3. Search until find RTN SSID on your phone’s WiFi
Setting. All the RTN380AX’s SSID is in format: EMn-
xxxxxx-NE ID

Tips:
Q: How to distinguish V and H RTN WiFi?
A: Power on V and H one by one, and search the newly
appeared Wifi after each RTN on.

Example: Turn on V RTN only, and get “Emn-bb587b-

182-42155”. So you know this WiFi is for V RTN.
Then turn on H RTN, and get 1 more WiFi “Emn-bb586f-
182-41967”. So you know this WiFi is for H RTN.
Write them on paper in case you forget them later on.
3. Hardware Ready
Notes:
• Once the NE is Visible on U2000, Huawei will shutdown
the WiFi. So you will not find WiFi from existing links. If
you need access existing NE through WiFi, call NOC to
enable WiFi.
• If you are using AP(Like TP-Link) rather than WiFi to
connect to RTN, as MDT App logs in to the directly
connected RTN only, you’ll need to physically switch
the AP connections between the 2 NE during
configuration.
• If you can’t find the needed WiFi in MDT, do
troubleshooting as below:
1. Search in Mobile WiFi settings rather than in
MDT(But for the connection, need do it in MDT);
2. Close and Restart the MDT App;
3. Stay closer to the WiFi(<10m);
4. Disable “WiFi+” in Mobile Settings, as it will
automatically disconnect this WiFi if no internet
connection.

4. Configure the NE
Manual Configuration

Attention before you do configuration:

As the WiFi module of RTN380AX works well within a range of less than 20m, if
your antenna height is high, it’s recommended to connect the power of RTN on
the ground, do configuration, and then power off, raise and install the antenna on
tower.

RTN automatically backup the configuration to the memory every 30mins. So if

you need power off RTN after making a configuration:
• Either wait 30mins
• Or manually Backup Database to SCC (Advanced -> Back Up Database to SCC)
