DIFFUSION
By NITANT
diffusion
Diffusion is the net passive movement of
particles (atoms, ions or molecules) from a
region in which they are in higher concentration
to regions of lower concentration. It continues
until the concentration of substances is uniform
throughout.
Passive Diffusion. Passive diffusion is the
movement of molecules across a semi-permeable
membrane without the help of protein
channels. ... Facilitated Diffusion. ... Osmosis. ...
Osmotic Conditions
osmosis
a process by which molecules of a solvent tend
to pass through a semipermeable membrane
from a less concentrated solution into a more
concentrated one
the three types of osmotic conditions that affect
living cells are called hypertonic, hypotonic, and
isotonic states. These terms describe the osmotic
state of the solution that surrounds a cell, not the
solution inside the cell. Hypertonic conditions
cause water to diffuse out of the cell, making the
cell shrivel.
