1. Before Interview
 Prepare yourself
 Assess your own personality, abilities, strengths and
weaknesses with regard to the requirements of the post
 Practice relevant skills related to the post you apply for,
such as typing, computer software application, etc.
 Prepare concrete answer to the question often asked
during interview and study the beforehand so that you will
become more confident and less likely to get nervous in
the interview
 Pay attention to current affairs and hot topics
 Know what the company does and how large it is
 What role you could play in the organization

 Carefully note the date, time , and place
 Select appropriate clothing
 Make sure you know how to get there and how long the
journey takes
 Plan the route and find out the traffic condition of the place
of interview beforehand
 Find out more about the company and the job offered. That
way, you’ll be more at ease during the interview. Ask
yourself questions and come up with the answer.
 Go to bed early the night before the interview because
sufficient rest will kept you in high spirits, increase your
confident and ability.

Modes of Interview
 Face to face interview/ Individual interview
one interviewer will ask the applicant questions and follow
up on the answer given by the applicant.
 Group interview
discuss certain topics or to answer interviews’ questions in
turn.
 Panel interview
face to face with interviewer, with more than one
interviewer.
 Online interview
Interview online in the agreed time.
 Telephone interview
Economical way for employers to have a first contact with
an applicant and obtain certain specific information.

 Knock the door before you go in
 Smile and greet the interviewers politely
 Let the interviewer decide whether to shake hand or not.
Do it in appropriate force.
 Sit down properly when invited by the interviewer
 Keep calm and smiling
 Be sincere and polity
 Speak with a friendly manner, at a proper speed and
volume. The pronunciation must be clear and the tone is
affirmative.
 Don’t cross your arms in front of the chest

 Keep appropriate eye contact with the interviewers
 Maintain eye contact to show your confident and respect
 Avoid small gestures such as playing with your fingers,
rubbing hands or patting your hair. This will give the
interviewers an impression that you are immature, impatient,
or lack if confident.
 Listen carefully to the interviewers’ questions; answer
precisely and concisely. Don’t simply yes or no. you should
elaborate the key points.
 Nod where appropriate when listening to the interviewers to
show your interest in the topic and agreement with the
interviewers.

 During the group discussion:
Join actively.
Listen to others carefully and be ready to respond their
questions and answers promptly.
Don’t interrupt others and avoid dominating the discussion.
 When introducing your won abilities and experience, mention
concrete examples to strengthen your persuasiveness and
credibility. Don’t provide incorrect information or try to mislead
the interview.
 At the end of the interview, you may ask one or two questions
about tye job duties, training, and promotion prospect to show
your own interest.
 Thank the interviewers and say god bye before leaving.

applications.
 Be sure to thank the interviewer after the interview is over,
and before you leave.
 Shake hands and thank them for the opportunity and their
time.

A Typical Interview Structure is as Follows:

 Introductions, handshakes and invitation to take a seat.


 Opening small talks.
 You are encouraged to talk about yourself, for example, “Tell
me about yourself, your name, age, education background,
etc.”
 Questions are asked to build links between the company and
you.
why do you want to work for us?
how do you know about our company?
have you been here before?
what position are you interested in? etc.
 You are asked if you have any questions. Prepare between 3-
5 questions.
 Interviewer closes thank you and good bye.

 What are some of the skills and abilities necessary for


someone to succeed in this job?
 What is the company’s policy on providing seminars,
workshops, and training so employees can keep up their
skills or acquire new ones?
 Could you describe your company’s management style and
the type of employee who fits well with is?
 What kind of progress opportunities are there? Asking good
questions shows that you came prepared, can think
intelligently, and are genuinely interested in working for the
company.
