NOTICE WRITING
A notice is a written or printed information that can
be in the form of an official statement of public
importance or a warning in advance . The basic
purpose is to disseminate information related to
various issues or occasions. It is written in simple and
formal language and is always brief to the point.
REMEMBER
• Notice should have the name of the institution /
organization , along with place name( block
letters)
• word NOTICE( in block letters)
• Date ( 12 January 2020),without any punctuation
• Heading ( in block letters)
• Content of the notice. It should answer questions like
what, where,when,who and how.
• Name
• Designation of the person issuing notice.

Word limit : 50 words
Notice is always written in a box.
Don’t use First and Second person . It should be
written in Third person.
The ‘wh’ questions give the skeleton form of notice.
 What is being organized?
 Who is organizing?
 Which is the target group?
 When is it being held?
 Where is it being held?
 Whom to contact?
 Last date of submission and to whom.

ii. The information has to be presented accurately and in a
concise manner using the formal tone.
QUESTION
1. You are the Head Boy/ Head Girl of your school. Draft a notice for
students of classes XI and XII to inform them about the
forthcoming On-the –Spor English Debate Competition that is
going to take place in the school. Include all important details.

ON-THE –SPOT ENGLISH DEBATE
All the students of classes XI and XII are hereby informed that an English
Debate Competition will be held as per the details given below:
Date: 5 April 2020
Time: 8.30 am onwards
Venue: School auditorium
Time limit: 3-4 mts. One each in favour and against.
Interested students may give their names in pairs to the undersigned
latest by 19 March , in Room no: 16.
