What is Speech Writing?
• Speech writing is the art of writing a speech for
public presentation. 
• It is an art of conveying a message to your audience.
• It is a tool used to outline your thoughts and ideas
for a speech. 
A. Introduction
A good introduction sets the direction of
your speech by;
• getting the attention of your audience,
• introducing your topic,
• stating your central idea or purpose,
• briefly identifying the main points, and
• making your audience eager to hear what
else you have to say.

• The way you organize information
in the body is very important.

• In fact, the organization must be so


effective that the audience
understands the information after
hearing it only once.

•  Purpose: To persuade my audience that the de- clawing of cats should be outlawed
• Central Idea: De-clawing can have serious and potentially fatal effects on cat
• Main Points:
I. De-clawing is a painful procedure in which a cat’s claws and first joint are surgically removed
[CAUSE]
II. Declawed cats are unable to protect themselves outside, and are unable to climb and scratch,
both of which are natural feline activities [EFFECT]

• Arrange information about subjects according to where things are
located in relation to each other.

• When arranged spatially, main points follow a directional pattern.
a. Main points is spatial order proceed from top to bottom, right to left, east to west, or
some other route.
b. Like chronological order, spatial order is used most often in informative s. speeches.

• Describe a problem and then present a solution to solve it.

• Specific Purpose :To persuade a civic group to support a citywide curfew for individuals under the age
of eighteen
• Main Points:
I. Demonstrate that vandalism and violence among youth is having a negative effect on our community.
II. Show how vandalism and violence among youth go up after 10:00 p.m. in our community.
III. Explain how instituting a mandatory curfew at 10:00 p.m. would reduce vandalism and violence
within our community.

To write a good conclusion you may used this


strategies;
1. Restate the your main or central idea
2. You can use quotations, jokes, anecdotes,
audience involvement, questions, etc.
3. You End on a High Note
Example introduction and conclusion
Introduction
Do you think you are always doing the same things in your daily
life, just like a machine doing the same thing over and over? If
you think so, maybe you should make trying new things part of
your lifestyle. If you’re like me, you’ll find that it really makes
your life better. I found four different methods for finding new
things to do, and I’d like to share some examples of how I used
these methods.
 
Conclusion
There are many new things we can try to make our lives better.
Everything you have never tried can be new things. These new
things really make my life more interesting. So, what are you
waiting for? Just go ahead and try some things you haven’t done
before!
