FACT OR
BLUFF
There is a
possibility that
we could run
out of
geothermal
energy.
3

BLUFF
Geothermal energy
comes from the heat
of the earth so as
long as earth's heat
exist, it won't
deplete.
4

FACT OR
BLUFF
Geothermal
energy makes a
lot of pollution
when being
extracted.
5

BLUFF
Geothermal energy
makes a minimal
environmental impact.
Drilling level is low
compared to shale gas
extraction and takes
place only at the
creation of the heat
reservoir.
6

FACT OR
BLUFF
Unlike solar and
wind energy,
geothermal
energy is always
available, 365
days a year.
7

8

FACT OR
BLUFF
The term
“geothermal”
comes from the
Latin words for
earth (“geo”) and
heat (“thermal”).
9

BLUFF
comes from the
Greek words for
earth (“geo”)
and heat
(“thermos”)
10

FACT OR
BLUFF
Geothermal
energy sites will
stop producing
energy as years
pass by.
11

FACT
Geothermal energy
sites aren’t 100%
reliable. It’s entirely
possible for a
geothermal site to
cool down after it’s
been in production
for several decades.

Did you know that the first geothermally

generated electricity was produced in
Italy?
It was tested first by Prince Piero
Ginori Conti in July 4,1904 at
Lardello dry steam field in italy. It
was the world's only industrial
producer of geothermal
electricity until 1958, when New
Zealand built a plant of its own in
Wairakei.

3 Basic Types of Geothermal

Dry steam plantsEnergy
use steam directly from a
geothermal reservoir to turn generator
turbines. The first geothermal power plant
was built in 1904 in Tuscany, Italy, where
natural steam erupted from the earth.
