 Agents of SHIELD
● 2013 ABC series, the first TV for the MCU, serving as a follow-up to Avengers.
Links to films have waned, but still firmly MCU (maybe another timeline tho)
● Created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen (Jed’s
wife). The 3 co-wrote the pilot, w/ Joss directing. Jed/Maurissa are the
showrunners. Maurissa’s brother Kevin is a frequent director.
● Stars Clark Gregg reprising his Avengers role, somehow back to life. Other
series mains: Melinda May, Daisy Johnson, Fitz/Simmons, with others added
over the series like Mack and Yo-Yo.
● Concluded Season 6 on 8/2. 7th and final season airs in 2020.
● This season revolves around the team encountering offworlder Sarge, who’s
come to Earth wreaking havoc and whose appearance is identical to recently
dead (again) Coulson. Part of the team also begins the season searching
space for Fitz in cryostasis after the future Fitz returns from the future in a time
loop and dies.
 Thoughts on SHIELD
● The show has a knack for continually raising the stakes. Did this season?
● Sarge was their way of keeping Gregg in the show, but not as Coulson. Did it
work?
● They keep reusing plot elements in new ways. The monolith was introduced in
S2 as an ancient Kree weapon. S3 revealed it was a spatial portal used to
banish the Inhuman Hive to another planet, whose cult followers became
HYDRA. A second monolith was introduced in S4 as a time portal, sending the
team back and forth from an alternate future. The third was seen in S5, but
misunderstood until the stones’ origins were revealed this season.
● Is anything on this show not working at this point?
● What are our expectations for S7? The set-up leaves us in 1930s NYC, with
FitzSimmons using time travel to circumvent the Chronicoms invading Earth

● HBO/GRRM have said NO spin-offs, even saying they don’t want to use any
characters from the show
● At least 3 in development, 1 pilot finished filming, developed by GRRM and Jane
Goldman (co-writer Kick-Ass, Kingsman 1&2, First Class & DoFP)
● Filming under the working title Blood Moon, though Martin has referred to it as The
Long Night and teased relation to Fire & Blood
● Set in the Age of Heroes, before the Long Night, and during the rise of Valyria.
Potentially the WWs, Children, Bran the Builder, Lann the Clever? History of the
time is uncertain, recorded by septons/maesters much later
● Starring Naomi Watts, Georgie Henley (Narnia’s Lucy), Jamie Campbell Bower
(Twilight’s Caius, young Grindelwald, Sweeney Todd’s Anthony), Miranda
Richardson (Rita Skeeter), John Simm (Doctor Who)
