Learning Style

 For you to learn new material, two things must happen, first
you must perceive the information.
 Once you have developed a method of learning you must
process the information.
 Reflection is used to think about the new material
Learning Styles Contd

 Abstract Perceivers- student
who learn through watching
observing and use reflection to
learn new material

 Concrete learners- learn things

that have personal meaning for
example they relate the
information how it is relevant to
their lives.
 Active Processors : they
are individuals who jump
and start to do things
immediately.

 Reflective Processors:
have to think about the
information before they
internalize it
Coping Mechanisms
 We each have our own ways of managing stress or conflict.
We’ve developed these methods over time and whether they
are effective depends on the individual’s personality and life
experiences.
 Perhaps you are worried about money, house work, children,
employment all of these factors can contribute to stress.
Coping strategies are the methods we consciously use to solve
problems and attempt to minimize the stress associated with
them.
Adaptive and Non-adaptive
Coping Mechanism

Time Management: Putting Time
on your side

 Determine your purpose
 Identify your main concern
 Be organized
 Stop Procrastinating
 Remember you: It is very easy to become overwhelmed with
responsibilities both in school and at home. Part of successful time
management includes setting aside time to do things you enjoy.
Problem Solving & Conflict
Management

Problem solving and conflict management techniques
are crucial to your success. First, identify these factors:
 The central issue and how you feel about it
 Possible issues,
 Analyse the results.
Assertiveness, Aggressiveness & Passive Behaviours to
Professional Communication

 Passive responses consistently protect the interest of
another person over your own, whereas aggressive
behaviour demand that your needs be met at the
expense of another. Assertive communication
strategies attempt to defend both your rights and
those of the other individual in the conflict.
