Why Study
Management?
• Studying management is itself a task to be managed
• Take a critical perspective:
• Challenge assumptions!
• Understand management in its
wider context!
• Be aware of alternative ways of
doing things!
• Be generally sceptical towards
what is presented!
• Nothing is so practical like a good theory!
• Studying management involves practical theory, e.g. an
interplay and application of theory and practice
