Motivation is the result of the interaction between an individual and and a situation. Motivation process is universal, all people are motivated to persue goals they value.. PROCESS THEORIES OF MOTIVATION Process theory is a commonly used form of scientific research study in which events or occurrences are said to be the result of certain input states leading to a certain outcome (output) state, following a set process. Self efficacy theory Expectancy modal Goal setting theory Equity theory Self Efficacy theories It refers to an individual’s belief that he or she is capable of performing a task.
Individuals high in self-efficiency seem to respond to
negative feedback with increased effort and motivation. Expectancy Modal This theory highlights that motivation is partly a decision- making process that evaluates effort for outcomes. It highlights the involvement of the active cognitive processes and user choice in the process. It also highlights the importance of the outcome representing a valued reward for the individual involved Theory focus on three relationships: 1. Effort – performance. 2. Performance reward. 3. Reward- personal goals. Goal setting theory This theory states that goal setting is essentially linked to task performance. • Goals indicate and give direction to an employee about what needs to be done and how much efforts are required to be put in. Four elements in goal setting makes it more effective in improving job performance- 1. Goal Acceptance 2. Specific Goal Challenging Goals Performance Feedback Equity theory Equity Theory proposes that a person's motivation is based on what he or she considers to be fair when compared to others. Equity Theory deals with social relationships and fairness/unfairness, it is also known as The Social Comparisons Theory or Inequity Theory. THANK YOU
