HEART FAILURE AND

CARDIOGENIC SHOCK
COMPLICATIONS AND PROGNOSIS
HEART FAILURE

COMPLICATIONS AND PROGNOSIS

COMPLICATION

• Kidney damage or failure.

• Heart valve problems.
• Heart rhythm problems.
• Liver damage.
PROGNOSIS

• Some people's symptoms and heart function will improve with

proper treatment. However, heart failure can be life-
threatening. People with heart failure may have severe
symptoms, and some may require heart transplantation or
support with a ventricular assist device.
• The prognosis for heart failure is still relatively poor and is
strongly associated with a higher mortality rate.
PROGNOSIS

• Many factors that can be associated to increase mortality and

poor prognosis are demographic variables, etiology of
heart failure, comorbidities, biomarkers of heart failure,
and hemodynamic parameters
CARDIOGENIC SHOCK

COMPLICATIONS AND PROGNOSIS

COMPLICATION

• 1. Stopped heart and breath

• 2. Dysrhythmias
• 3. Kidney failure
• 4. Multiple organ failure
• 5. Ventricular aneurysm
• 6. Thromboembolic
• 7. Stroke
PROGNOSIS

• Cardiogenic shock is the leading cause of death in acute

coronary infarction, with mortality rates reaching 70-90%.
• The key to a good prognosis is diagnosis, prompt
supportive therapy and coronary artery
revascularization in patients with ischemia and
myocardial infarction.
• Prognosis will improve with faster time for reperfusion.
