The word Interview means ‘view between’ or


‘sight between’. It suggests a meeting
between two persons for the purpose of
getting a view of each other, or for knowing
each other.

Group Discussion- It is used to judge oral skills,


interpersonal skills , adaptability , leadership skills.
Experience- Practical experience is given more importance
than paper qualifications. Fresh Candidates are not called.
Stress Interview- It is used to find out how a candidate
behaves in exceptional stress and strain.

Interview Techniques
Screening- This technique is used to weed out
Unsuitable candidates; a good strategy.
Random appearance- Interviewing all the candidates may
sometimes throw a good candidate, cumbersome and time
consuming.
Tests- Written and oral tests are conducted to test
candidates’ knowledge.

Interviewee’s Preparation
•Be clear about what you expect from the job, what will be the
minimum salary acceptable to you.

•Know the company

•Be ready for the questions you will be asked.


Interests, hobbies, achievements, prospects,
relationships , etc.

•Prepare a checklist of the questions you would like to ask.

Arriving for the Interview


• Dress appropriately- Neat appearance ,
cleanliness, use accessories and perfumes
sparingly.

• Take with you your certificates.

• Arriving for the interview in time. Try to reach


fifteen minutes before time. It will give sufficient
time to relax and prepare.

• Taking seat only when offered
• Being relaxed

Suggestions for ensuring success


• Never go unprepared. Prepare some area of
interest and let the interviewer know that you
would like to be interviewed about it.

• Try to anticipate the needs and preferences of the


interviewer and respond accordingly.

• Don’t try to act smart. Don’t tell lies . Don’t hide


facts. Don’t try to mislead the interviewer.
