 GEOLOCATION 1

On the banks of the Magdalena River,


on the Circunvalar Avenue 5th street of
the city of Neiva - Huila, is the
sculpture 'La Gaitana', which represents
the famous indigenous woman who led
the defense of these lands against the
onslaught of the Spanish conquerors .
The work, made in bronze by the master
Rodrigo Arenas Betancourt, is 30 m
high and 12 m wide. Beneath the
structure is the Paleontological Museum

Park Isla Mohán is located in


Neiva on Circunvalar Avenue with
Ninth Street, on the banks of the
Magdalena River, it is a suitable
site for the contemplation of the
current and its own activities. In
addition, on the site there are
walks, horseback riding and
canoeing to the island

Activities: In the Isla del Mohán park,


visitors can walk, ride a horse, canoe,

 The sculpture ‘‘La Gaitana’’

Sculptor: this sculpture was built in 1974,


by Rodrigo Arenas Betancourt, inspired by
the history of Guaitipán, today known as
the Cacica Gaitana

Tribute: honor to an indigenous woman


named "La Gaitana", who faced Spanish
rule after they killed her son, leading the
conquistador Pedro de Añasco to death
after the rebellion of more than 6,000
people from the original towns.
