Serial Shipping Container Code
The Serial Shipping Container Code or SSCC, is a numbering
and symbology system that can be used by all parties in the
supply chain; it is designed to track product distribution from
the manufacturer to the distributor.
The SSCC uniquely identifies the transport unit.

The clear area which must surround every barcode. Also called the quiet zone.

The compulsory light margin area in nominal size (100%) on both the
left and right of the barcode is 10 mm. Light Margin areas vary
according to magnification.
 Woolworths preference is for the label height to be at
600mm and in the middle of the pallet as shown.

 Way Forward:

• Verification should be done with EAN

prior to labels being delivered to
Woolworths’ DC.
• Woolworths will assist by providing
further testing when EAN verification has
been received.
• Using SSCC labels are a way for
Woolworths and trading partners to work
together to lower end-to-end supply chain
costs.
