• Be perfectly round.
• Have an inside surface which was polished.
• Have no offtakes.
• Contain no valves or any other devices.
• Be pumping a light,refined oil at a speed of about 3 feet per
second
 MITER BENDS

• Miter bends are made by cutting

the end of the pipe at an angle to
achieve a change in direction of
the pipe.
• A bend made of a series of miter
joints is unacceptable
pipelines.Whenever there is a
miter bend the pig supplier must
be notified of the dimensions to be
sure that a suitable pig is provided
