When do we use the superlative?

Some superlatives
are irregular…

In the superlative we put the before


the adjective:
old → the oldest
Adjectives with add -est or -st to
1 or 2 syllables the adjective old → the oldest
large → the largest

Adjectives with replace the -y with


2 syllables that an -i and add -est busy → the busiest
end in -y: to the adjective easy → the easiest

Adjectives with 2 put the most


or more syllables before the popular → the most popular
adjective expensive → the most expensive
