THE CHURCH OF JEROBOAM

1 Kings 12:25 – 33
The slogan of Jeroboam church:

‘ITS TOO MUCH TO FOLLOW

GOD’S PRINCIPLES’
WHATSOEVER WAS WRITTEN.
• The bible says in Romans 15:4, ‘For
whatsoever things were written aforetime
were written for our learning that we
through patience and comfort of the
scriptures might have hope.
• The same bible says in 1 Corinthians 10:11,
‘Now all these things happened unto the for
examples: and they are written for our
admonition, upon whom the ends of the
world are come.
Popular as it was, Jeroboam’s people’s church
departed from GOD’s ideal in at least seven
respects:
(1)Its motivation for worship,
(2)Its blueprint for worship,
(3)Its object of worship,
(4)Its demands on its worshipers,
(5)The center of its worship,
(6)ITS MINISTERS OF WORSHIP, AND
(7)Its time for worship.
Changing the Ministers of Worship.
Jeroboam’s innovations was his
redefinition of the practice of ministry,
making it more nearly "inclusive" We read
that "he made an house of high
places, and made priests of the
lowest of the people, which
were not of the sons of
Levi." (1 Kings 12:31)
He reasoned, as some do today in another context,
that the "priesthood of all believers" means that
everyone can be a minister. "Certainly, anyone
with an appropriate training or the gift of the
Spirit should be ordained as elder/minister,"
Jeroboam rationalized. The old tradition that
priests could only be males from the tribe of Levi
was "culturally conditioned," going back to the
time of Moses, the rigid and irritable administrator
who dared to withstand the bold, innovative Aaron.
And had not Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, notable
men in Israel’s history who had boldly challenged
Moses, argued that “all the congregation
are holy” (Numbers 15:3)?
• Women ordination, Ordination of unmarried men and
Ordination of children.
• The spirit of Miriam and the spirit of Jeroboam is at work in
our churches today more so in our university churches.
• We have borrowed a leaf from the church of Jeroboam.
• What Satan does is to make an error appear as truth. By us
familiarizing with sin it becomes normal. It requires someone
who has eaten honey like Jonathan to correct the error.
• Satan is using every means to make crime and debasing vice
popular. The mind is educated to familiarity with sin. Our
young people hear and read so much of debasing crime that
the once tender conscience, which would have recoiled with
horror from such scenes, becomes hardened, and they dwell
upon these things with greedy interest.” PP, p. 459.2
THE MAN OF GOD FROM JUDAH
• The bible says in 1 King 13:1-2, ‘And behold
there came a man of God out of Judah by the
word of the Lord unto Beth-el: and Jeroboam
stood by the altar to burn incense.
• And he cried out against the altar in the word
of the Lord and said , Oh altar, altar, thus says
the Lord; behold a child shall be born unto the
house of David, Josiah by name and upon
thee shall he offer the priests of the high
places that burn upon thee, and men’s bones
shall he burnt upon thee.
THE PROPHECY FULFILLED:
• The bible says in 2 King 22:1, ‘Josiah was
eight years old when he began to reign and he
reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And
his mother’s name was Jedidah, the daughter
of Adaiah of Bocath.
• And he did that which was right in the sight
of the Lord, and walked in all the way of
David his father and turned not aside to the
hand or to the left.
THE LOST AND FOUND BOOK
• The bible says in 2 King 22:8, ‘ And Hilkiah the
high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I
have found the book of the law in the house
of the Lord. And Hilkiah gave the book to
Shaphan and he read it.
• And Shaphan the scribe showed the king,
saying Hilkiah the priest hath delivered a book
and Shaphan read it before the king.
• And it came to pass, when the king heard the
words of the book of the law that he rent his
clothes.
JOSIAH BEGINS THE REFORMS
• The bible in 2 Kings 23 narrates how the king
carried out the reforms.
• As he was carrying out the reform which included
burning of the sepulchers he came a cross a grave
of the man of God from Judah who had
prophesized that a child called Josiah will be born
and he spared it
• Vs 16, ‘And Josiah turned himself he spied the
sepulchers that were there in the mount and sent
and took the bones out of the sepulchers and
burned them upon the altar and polluted it,
according to the word of the Lord which the man
of God proclaimed the things that thou hast done
against the of Beth-el.
THE MAN WHO EXALTED THE PRINCIPLES OF
GOD
• Josiah, from his earliest manhood, had
endeavored to take advantage of his position as
king to exalt the principles of God’s holy law. And
now, while Shaphan the scribe was reading to him
out of the book of the law, the king discerned in
this volume a treasure of knowledge, a powerful
ally, in the reform he so much desired to see
wrought in the land. He resolved to walk in the
light of its counsels, and also to do all in his power
to acquaint his people with its teachings and to
lead them, if possible to cultivate reverence and
love for the law of heaven-PK 398
THE PROPHETESS HULDAH
• At that time the prophetess Huldah was living in Jerusalem,
near the temple. The mind of the king, filled with anxious
foreboding reverted to her, and he determined to inquire of the
Lord through this chosen messenger to learn, if possible
whether by any means within his power he might save erring
Judah(JKUSDA) now on the verge of ruin-PK 398.3.,
• 2 Kings 22:12-13, ‘And the king commanded Hilkiah the
priest ………Go ye inquire of the Lord for me… concerning
the words of this book, to do according unto all that which bis
written concerning us.
Through Huldah the Lord sent Josiah word that Jerusalem’s
ruin could not be averted. Even should the people now humble
themselves before God, they could not escape their
punishment. So long had their senses been deadened by
wrongdoing that if judgment should come upon them they
would return to the same sinful course
• The prophetess declared, ‘tell the man that sent you to me’
thus saith the Lord, behold I will bring evil upon this place,
and upon the inhabitants thereof………
• But because the king had humbled his heart before God, to
him was sent the message: ‘Because thine heart was tender
and thou hast humbled thyself before God, when thou
heardest what I spake against this place, and the inhabitants
thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse,
and hast rent thy clothes and wept before Me,
• I also have heard thee, saith the Lord. Behold therefore I will
gather thee unto your fathers, and thou shalt be gathered into
thy grave in peace, and thine eyes shall not see all the evil
which I will bring upon this place- verses 19-20- PK 399.2
WHAT TITLE IS THIS?
• Vs 17, ‘ Then he said, what title is that I see?
And the men of the city told him, it is the
sepulcher of the man of God, which came
from Judah and proclaimed these things that
thou hast done against the altar of Beth-el.
• Vs 18, ‘And he said let him alone; let no man
move his bones. So they let his bones alone,
with the bones of the prophet hat came fro
out of Samaria.
JOSIAH: THE JKUSDA CHURCH LEADER
• With due respect to God and to the church of God at Jkuat I wish to
bring to attention of the current leadership under Josiah the church
leader of Jkusda that in 2006 the book of the law got lost and up to
now no one in Jkusda has found it.
• I pray that during your leadership brother Josiah Amai may you
bring the true reforms like Josiah your name sake in the bible.
• If you need advice on this we have the prophetess Huldah in the
name of Ellen G White who is dead like Huldah but the inspired
word of God they wrote is still alive to date.
• Brother and the High Priest of JKUSDA that is your Chaplain Pastor-
The HILKIAH please organize a meeting so that we come and reason
together and correct the error that Jeroboam brought to the church.

king you will rent you clothes and immediately start the reforms.
• I pray that the Spirit of God may convict you to do the right thing in
the eyes of God.
