Validation
An estimated 30% of the food produced for human consumption globally is lost or wasted
somewhere along the food supply chain. Meanwhile, the world’s population is predicted to reach 9.1
billion by 2050 and this will require an increase of 70% in food availability. A significant part of this
growth will take place in developing countries, where steadily increasing urban populations continue to
create complex and lengthy food supply chains involving many actors, presenting challenges in
delivering safe, nutritious food that is of good quality.

The organization used a statistical data gathered by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the
United Nations in order to validate the need of this kind of innovation in a farm especially in low-
income countries such as the Philippines. The article was featured and studied by Maryam Rezaei a Food
technologist at FAO Nutrition and Food Systems Division (ESN) and Bin Liu an officer of Nutrition and
Food Systems Division, FAO.

Market Share and Size

There are 210,167 registered high value crop farmers
in the Philippines in 2019. The 2012 Census of Agriculture
(CA) reported 5.56 million farms/holdings covering 7.19
million hectares, which translated to an average area of
1.29 hectares per farm/holding.
Roughly 2 billion people around the world derive their
livelihood from agriculture. This will be a great chance to
also target the global market share especially organizations
that fund these type of projects such as FAO or Food and
Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

farm holdings in the Philippines which is roughly 55,600 farms/holdings, with the use of the
CoolServe, the expected increase in annual gross output is about 25%. With this, if the
government will be funding the proposal, the government is expected to have a 4.56
payback period and a return of investment of about 26.43%.
Moreover, the organization will also have a total of Php 6,180,740.64 annual revenue
from cost per click banner advertisement. The programming of the application costs Php
1,552,800.00 which is a one-time payment.
