GUIDE QUESTIONS

1. Are all students required to undergo work immersion?

2. When do we begin offering work immersion and the other options?
3. What happens when partner institutions would want more hours of work immersion other than
what D.O 30 articulates?
4. Is there curriculum guide to be followed for work immersion, business enterprise simulation,
capstone research and culminating activity?
5. Are all schools required to have MOA with partner institutions/industries specific to all strands
offered?
6. Who shall give grades to students in their Work Immersion? What is the percentage
distribution?
7. What are other standards to observe in Work Immersion?
Are all students required to undergo work
immersion?
• All students in the TVL track are required to undergo work immersion in
conformance to the TESDA training regulations.

• Students in the other tracks/strands may undergo work immersion. Options can
be Capstone Research (STEM); Business Enterprise Simulation (ABM);
Culminating Activity (HUMSS); Apprenticeship (SPORTS); and Exhibit/Arts
Production (ARTS and DESIGN).

• For GAS students they may also undergo work immersion. They can also be
exposed to research, culminating activity and business enterprise simulation.
When do we begin offering work immersion and the
other options?
• For work immersion, students should have taken at least 4 specialized subjects. TVL learners
must have finished one specialization while for a 640-hour specialization, must have finished
at least 320 hours.
• Prerequisites/co-requisites must be met first.
Business Enterprise Simulation
Prerequisites: Business Math, Organization and Management, FABM 1 & 2,
Principles of Marketing and Business Finance.
Co-requisites: Applied Economics; and Ethics and Social Responsibility.
Culminating Activity
Prerequisites: Specialized subjects in Humanities and Social Sciences
Apprenticeship
Prerequisite: Practicum (In-campus)
Production in the Performing Arts
Prerequisite: Apprenticeship and Exploration in the Performing Arts.
What happens when partner institutions would want more hours
of work immersion other than what D.O. 30 articulates?
• There are provisions in D.O. 30 for the work immersion delivery models.
Model A : 80 hours of work immersion
• Optional for learners who decide to do more work immersion hours in the specialization of their choice; for learners who have
more work immersion opportunity available; for learners who enrolled in specializations that require more training hours; for
learners who are likely to proceed to employment after basic education; for schools having more work immersion partners that
can accommodate all its learners in the first and second semester of Grade 12; for schools having work immersion venues but
these cannot accommodate all learners in the 2 nd semester of Grade 12, thus making it necessary to spread out the immersion
over several terms; for schools having partners who have more work immersion slots and have selected learners ready for
more training in the workplace.

Model B: 240 hours of work immersion

Model C: 240 hours of work immersion
Model D: More than 240 hours of work immersion.
D1- 320 hours of work immersion
D2- 320 hours of work immersion

• However, if these models do not fit a specific situation or concern, regions may design their own delivery model.
Novel/unique delivery models should be approved by the Regional Office. Proposals describing the unique delivery model
should include in their justifications the work immersion hours, the learners’ purposes and needs, and the school’s partnership
arrangements.

When asking for approval from the Regional Office due to
novel/unique delivery modes, the following should be attached:
a.Letter from school to prospect immersion partner/industry.
b.Response letter from the prospect partner/industry to the
school, indicating arrangements and justifications especially
when these partners want to have further adjustments relative
to the number of hours and other conditions.
c.Evidences of consultative meeting with the parents like
minutes of the meeting, attendance and agreement between
school and involved parents with their signatures affixed.
d.Parental Consent
e.Indorsements from the principal to the SDS to RD.
Is there curriculum guide to be followed for work immersion, business
enterprise simulation, capstone research and culminating activity?

For all models, the Work Immersion Curriculum

Guide in Annex A of D.O. 30 shall be followed.
The number of hours allotted for Work
Immersion Proper, which is Part II of the CG,
may vary based on the model to be chosen by
the learners and the school.
Are all schools required to have MOA with partner
institutions/industries specific to all strands offered?
• For schools offering TVL track, YES. For those schools
undergoing Business Enterprise Simulation, YES.
• All Work Immersion agreements at the school level must be
covered by a MOA for the security of all parties involved. All
MOAs must specify that all parties will conform to these
guidelines. All learner activities shall be reflected in the MOA
as stipulated in the Prescribed Template for the List of
Tasks/Activities to be done during Work Immersion which
can be found in Annex C, D.O. 30.
The Memorandum of Agreement for Work Immersion must have
provision for the following:
a. Creation of a Joint Working Group (JWG), the JWG’s functions and responsibilities, and the
responsibilities, and the responsibilities of each of the partners;
b. Access to and use of partner institution’s facilities by learners and teachers;
c. Provision of supervisors/mentors from the partner institution;
d. Assurance that the workplace is a conducive and safe learning environment;
e. List of learner activities as stipulated in the prescribed template in annex C;
f. For the partner Institution to orient the school on the work learners will engage in based on
the activities listed in the Prescribed Template for the Immersion Program of Activities;
g. Insurance for learners in DepEd schools, charged to MOOE (for private schools and others,
the insurance fee paid by the learners during the enrolment shall be utilized for work
immersion. Insurance fees may also be included in the voucher.
h. Work Immersion-related expenses like insurance and transportation allowance may be treated
as a donation under DepEd’s Adopt-A-School Program.
i. See attached Annex D of this guidelines for sample MOAs. This does not preclude the parties
from adding other provisions which are beneficial to the learners.
Who shall give grades to the students in their Work Immersion?
What is the percentage distribution?
• The Work Immersion Teacher and the Work
Immersion Partner Institution Supervisor will
jointly assess the learners’ performance following
the DepEd Order No. 8, s. 2015 (Policy Guidelines
on Classroom Assessment for the K to 12 Basic
Education Program).
• The Work Immersion Teacher shall then issue the
Final Grade.
What are other standards to observe in Work Immersion?
• Partner institutions are able and willing to lend their expertise and resources. This enables DepEd
to strengthen its capability to offer Senior High School, without monetary requirements from
both.
• Work Immersion requires parental consent.
• The maximum number of hours spent in the work immersion venue is 40 hours per week and no
more than eight (8) hours per day as provided by law, for a child below 18 but not older than 15.
• Work Immersion should not be reduced to a mere recruitment tool of a Partner Institution.
• Schools and students shall not be asked to pay the SHS Partner Institution for any Work
Immersion activity conducted. Fees for Work Immersion must only be set after consultation with
parents.
• The partnerships shall be governed by existing laws and DepEd issuances.
• Duties and Responsibilities of School Head, School Partnerships Focal Person, Work Immersion
Teacher, Work Immersion Partner Institution Supervisor, and Learner.
• The following are the offices and units, which will implement, monitor, and/or will be affected
by the policy: CO, RO (CLMD), DO (CID) and Schools.
