Geared towards more general understanding of analytics

When Do You Need GA?
A blog- a static website?
• How many people visit my website?
• Where do my visitors live?
• Do I need a mobile-friendly website?
• What websites send traffic to my website?
• What marketing tactics drive the most traffic to my website?
• Which pages on my website are the most popular?
• How many visitors have I converted into leads or customers?
• Where did my converting visitors come from and go on my website?
• How can I improve my website's speed?
• What blog content do my visitors like the most?
• Traffic Flow on the site
Metrics:
• The web developer needs to install a web analytics program into
every page of the website you wish to track, usually by pasting a small
snippet of the html code in to the HEAD tag of the page.
SESSION
• A session on Google Analytics begins when a user visits a site. There
are two methods Google uses to expire an account:
• Google Analytics sessions can expire on a time basis.
• After 30 minutes of visitor inactivity
• At midnight
• Also, Google Analytics sessions can expire on a campaign basis.
• If a user enters the site from one marketing campaign, leaves, and then
returns via another marketing campaign.

Every time a user's campaign source changes, Analytics opens a new session. It’s important to point out that
even if an existing session is still open (that is, less than 30 mins have elapsed), if the campaign source changes
mid-session the first session is closed and a new session is opened.
