Subject and Predicate

Subject:
The doer of an action or a person, thing and place about which we talk is called
subject.
Examples;
1. The boys were playing at the station.
2. Nature is the best physician.
3. Islamabad is the Capital of Pakistan.
4. Rose is red in color.
Note: In imperative sentence , subject is not usually mentioned because it is
understood. The subject is always second person (you)
Examples;
1. Close the door. (you)
2. Sit down. (you)
3. Thank him. (you)
Predicate:

The part which tells something about subject is called Predicate of the
sentence.
Examples;
1. The boy was standing at the station.
2. Nature is the best physician.
3. Islamabad is the Capital of Pakistan.
4. Rose is red in color.
5. Edison invented the phonograph.
6. Akbar has completed his work.
