Carbon Sequestration Rate

Landscape
Presentation content:
i. Methodology for carbon
sequestration
ii. Brief guidelines for consultants
and contractors
iii. Point allowance for carbon rating
system
Carbon Sequestration
• Sequestration:
• How much CO2 does a tree take up?
• Sequestration rates vary greatly according to the
following:
• Tree species
• Age/stage of tree
• Composition/density of tree
• Location/condition of the tree
• Type of soil
• Climate
Sequestration Rate
• Due to that we can roughly estimate the
amount of CO2 sequestered in a given
tree/species
• By the tree’s age (weight, diameter and
height), we can get a yearly sequestration rate
regardless type of species, age, location and
composition
Method
• This process will be calculated as followed:
i. Total Green Weight (TGW)content of the tree
ii. Total Dry Weight content (TDW)
iii.Total Carbon Weight (TCW) in the tree.
iv.Total CO2 Weight (TCO2W) sequestered in the
tree
v. Total CO2 Weight (TCO2W/year) sequestered in
the tree per year
