Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by
severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2.  It was first identified in
December 2019 in Wuhan, China, and has since spread globally, resulting in an
ongoing pandemic. As of today more than 5 million people have been infected
with these diseases and continue day by day.
Social Distancing
Despite this deathly virus’s authority all over the world, still there's many ways to keep
ourselves safe from it. Limiting face-to-face contact with others is the best way to reduce the
spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

How to Convince People to Maintain Social Distance

Appeal to their desire to protect those they love

Using social pressure to influence others behavior

Taking “It’s not you, It’s me” approach

Using social network to spread awareness

Appeal to their desire to protect those they love

It’s hard to convince people with facts, figures and projections. Since it’s the nature of human beings,
So appealing to logic isn’t always the most effective approach. Because we, human being, are prone
to do mistakes in the first place no matter how many times we get warned or not.
Appeal to their desire to protect those they love

But it’s the nature of a human being to care more about their loved ones than themselves.
Some people may not feel that they face a significant risk from the virus. Reminding them
over and over again that their loved one might face serious risk because of their action might
help a lot. At the same time reminding them that if anything happens to their family members
will be at great loss of their family. Because end of the day, people only care about family.
Using social pressure to influence others behavior

Social pressure can influence behavior in powerful ways. Human beings follow
society. If they don’t follow or maintain a certain life style they will feel left
out. And most importantly they will feel guilty.
Using social pressure to influence others behavior

It is often easier to go along with something when one can easily see examples
where others are doing the same thing. This will also encourage them to engage
in action.
Taking “It’s not you, It’s me” approach

This is an old British manner. Here one can

influence others in a humble manner. Making
them realize that it’s downside and making
them bound to maintain it.

In this pandemic if we could convince people by telling that it’s not you but us who might
be risky for them, will surely give them reason to maintain social distance. This will
certainly send a convincing message to their brain.
Using social network to spread awareness

In this digital age, Social media has become a platform to influence people on a large scale.
People usually follow others. In social media it’s very easy to spread anything.
Using social network to spread awareness

Using some handwashing and social distance maintaining memes and challenges can help us to
convince people to follow those. It may seem silly, but that is an effective and humorous way
since people tend to follow social media trends and love to show off in social media .
Conclusion

The official phrase is "social distancing” , but it can help to

think of it as "physical distancing" instead. We can still be
social, just in different ways. Take advantage of social
media and video apps to support each other, laugh
together, and take care of each other until the virus is
under control because it is very important to stay in touch
with friends and family that don’t live in your home. Since
everyone reacts differently to stressful situations and
having to socially distance yourself from someone you
love can be difficult. So, Call, video chat, or stay
connected using social media and be happy.
