 Agenda items for the 58th Meeting of Standing Committee of
National Board for Wildlife

1. Proposal   for use of 4.76 ha of forest land of Sri Penusila Narasimhaswamy

Wildlife Sanctuary in Nellore (T) Division for construction of Anam Sanjeeva
Reddy Somasila High Level Lift canal from Somasila Reservoir up to balancing
reservoir No.IV under Phase-I. 

2.Proposal for use of 0.03 ha (0.01Ha. In Kadpa and 0.02Ha. In Proddatur division) of
forest land in Sri Lankamalleswara Wildlife Sanctuary and Tiger Corridor of NSTR
in favour of the Airport Director, Kadapa Airport, Kadapa for erection of obstacle
light mast for night landing operations at Kadapa Airport in Proddatur WL and
Kadapa Divisions.
Agenda 1: Proposal for use of 4.76 ha of forest land of Sri Penusila Narasimhaswamy Wildlife
  Sanctuary of in Nellore (T) Division for construction of Anam Sanjeeva Reddy  Somasila
High Level Lift canal from Somasila Reservoir to balancing   reservoir No.IV under Phase-
I. 

• The Project is for use of 4.76 ha of forest land of Sri Penusila Narasimhaswamy Wildlife Sanctuary in
Nellore (T) Division for construction of Anam Sanjeeva Reddy Somasila High Level Lift canal from
Somasila Reservoir to balancing   reservoir No. IV under Phase-I. 

• Area for Diversion in PA area is 2.54 ha. Forestland outside Paarea is 2.22 Ha.

• Out of total area of 4.76 ha of forest land proposed in alignment of canal is passing through
Udayagiri Veligonda RF of Sri  Penusila Narasimha Wildlife Sanctuary and Bommavaram RF of Nellore
Division.
•  
• As per the DGPS survey, an extent of 2.54 Ha is in Udayagiri Veligonda RF and 2.22 Ha is in
Bommavaram RF of Atmakur Range of Nellore Division.

• Total Number of Trees to be felled : 99   Nos (miscellaneous species )

• Chief Wildlife warden recommended the proposal with following conditions:
• Precautions while taking the  construction works and it should be completed in the least

• The publicity and awareness on  wildlife conservation in the form of sign boards along diverted
area in consultation with DFO (T), Nellore.

• Establishment of Base camp to Monitoring the diversion area and surroundings by the Forest
Department by engaging wildlife watchers for a period of three years at the cost of the user
 agency to be decided by the DFO (T), Nellore. 

• The   State Board for Wildlife recommended the proposal in its meeting held on 28-02-2019.

Placed before the standing Committee of National Board for Wildlife for
consideration.

Agenda 2: Proposal for diversion of 0.03 ha of forest land in Sri Lankamalleswara Wildlife Sanctuary
and Tiger Corridor of NSTR in favour of the Airport Director, Kadapa Airport, Kadapa for erection of
obstacle light mast for night landing operation at Kadapa Airport in Proddatur WL and Kadapa
Divisions.

• Proposal for diversion of 0.03 ha of forest land is in Sri Lankamalleswara Wildlife Sanctuary and
Tiger Corridor of NSTR in favour of the Airport Director, Kadapa Airport, Kadapa for erection of
obstacle light mast for night landing operations at Kadapa Airport in Proddatur WL and Kadapa
Divisions.
• Area for Diversion is 0.03 ha (0.02 ha falling in Sri Lankamalleswara WLS and 0.01 ha in Tiger Corridor
of NSTR)
• 0.03 ha (0.01 ha in Compt No. 76 Chenamukkapalli RF, Bayanapalli Beat and 0.01 ha in Copmt No.
80, Lankamalla RF, Balasingapalli Beat of Proddatur WL Division) and (0.01 ha in Compt No.
567,Kanumulopalli Ext-A RF, Kanumalopalli Beat of Kadapa Division).
• 25   no of pole size trees to be removed in Proddatur WL Division.
• 38 no of pole size trees to be removed in Kadapa Division.
• Chief Wildlife warden recommended the proposal subject to the following conditions:
• Disturbance to the movement of Wildlife in the proposed area should be avoided.
• All safety measures shall be taken to avoid any possible accidents and structural failures.
Agenda 2: Proposal for diversion of 0.03 ha of forest land in Sri Lankamalleswara Wildlife Sanctuary
and Tiger Corridor of NSTR in favour of the Airport Director, Kadapa Airport, Kadapa for erection of
obstacle light mast for night landing operation at Kadapa Airport in Proddatur WL and Kadapa
Divisions.

iii. After erection of tower whenever the User Agency requires any repairs and replacements,
they should take permission from the Chief Wildlife Warden, Forest Department for entering
into the Reserve Forests as well as Protected Areas
iv. Publicity boards of movement of Wildlife will be erected at appropriate locations by the User
Agency in consultation with the Divisional Forest Officer concerned.
v. For Protection and Conservation of Wildlife in Sri Lankamalla Wildlife Sanctuary and Tiger
Corridor area an amount of Rs. 10.00 Lakhs (Ten Lakhs) should be deposited in the
Biodiversity Conservation Society of Andhra Pradesh (BIOSAP), Forest Department for
implementation of protection and conservation measures in Wildlife areas impacted by the
project
• The   State Board for Wildlife recommended the proposal through file circulation on 27-01-2020
