DIEFFENBACHIA/DUMB CANE
•Scientific name:
Dieffenbachia

o intense numbing,
o oral irritation,
o excessive drooling,
o and localized swelling.[14]
However, these effects are rarely life-threatening. In most
cases, symptoms are mild, and can be successfully treated
In severe cases
 severe cases can occur if Dieffenbachia makes prolonged contact with oral
mucosal tissue.
 In such cases, symptoms generally include severe pain which can last for
several days to weeks
 . Hospitalization may be necessary if prolonged contact is made with the
throatIn.
 some cases the swelling is so bad it causes the victim to go silent for inability
to talk, this is where the common name of Dumb Cane came from.

TREATMENT
  Intravenous fluids, analgesics, antacid, antihistaminic and ranitidine.

 POISONOUS CONTENT : RICIN
 POISONOUS PART: SEED

 There is no specific treatment and symptomatic management to reduce the
load of the toxin.

 Hopitalize the patient immediately

 Treatment is supportive with the use of physostigmine in more severe cases of

poisoning
CONCLUSION

 It is not necessary to keep off all such plants from landscaping a most of
these plants are really beautiful
 The best way is to keep them out of easy reach places
 Plants like bamboo have small spines attached to its sheath while handling
such plants wear gloves and proper thick clothing
