• Can very accurately and directly measure attenuation on a single ended
basis.
• No far end device is required (I.e. Two handheld devices).
• Series of frequencies applied to the loop from the SLQ module and reflections
are analyzed to determine the measured attenuation of the loop and the loop
length
• Unaffected attenuation measurement in the presence of gauge changes and
splitters.
• Particularly useful for applications with 5-6 gauge changes/loop.
• Enhanced data rate prediction
• Installs in the lower left slot of the EDGE chassis

Wiring the DigiTest EDGE

• Wiring the Power, Ground and Quiet Ground

• DigiTest EDGE has three connections to the Power Module: -48 VDC, return, and quiet
ground. These appear as a 3-pin terminal plug on the backplane.
• Power connection Specifications:
• Connection Type: 3-pin terminal plug
• Connections : Power (-48 VDC), Ground (Return), Quiet Ground
• Protection: Fused
• Locate the 3-pin power terminal plug, the 2 snap-on ferrite cores, and the ferrite sleeve in the

• After the DigiTest EDGE test platform is configured, an
acceptance test may be performed to verify that:
• Ports are properly configured
• Commands can be issued from the Craft interface
• The system is testing properly.
• Verify that power is applied to the DigiTest EDGE test platform.
• The fuse LED should be illuminated green indicating that power is

the EDGE port that accesses the look-in/out test access on the
test access matrix.
• With an open circuit at the TAP connector, issue the ACDELTA
or FIXDCD command from the RAC\TEST> prompt, using
either the default command parameters, or the appropriate
command parameters for your application.
• Evaluate the results to assure that an open circuit is observed
between tip and ring.
• Redo the previous ACDELTA test with a short circuit across

• If the BSO option is installed:
Note: Test access must be provisioned from either the DSLAM or an external test access
device (e.g. Telaccord 1000) with look-in capability.  In addition, the DSLAM shall be
fully provisioned and provide access from the BSO to a dry port (no customer
provisioned).  This shall eliminate performing an intrusive acceptance test with the BSO
module and disrupting customer service.
• After logging into the Craft port of EDGE, from the RAC> prompt enter the Broadband
Services Option test menu by entering the DSLTEST command
• Assure that look-in test access on the metallic test access device either residing in the DSLAM or
external test access device (e.g. Telaccord 1000) is performed prior to proceeding.
• Assure that testing from the BSO module occurs for look-in (ATU-R mode) testing on the appropriate
TAP port on EDGE by issuing the XPORT <port number> command, where <port number>
corresponds with the EDGE port that accesses the look-in test access on the test access matrix.

• If a pass occurs, the configurations on the BSO and DSLAM are set correctly.
• If a failure occurs, several factors may be impacting the sync between the BSO module and the
DSLAM port.
• Verify that the BSO configuration is properly configured, assure that the test
access device is properly performing the look-in test access or check the DSLAM
for proper provisioning of the port that is attempting to perform sync.
• Once complete, rerun the test to verify and obtain sync.

• Remove the pre-installed screws from the back of the unit (see Figure 15 and Figure 16) and use them to
attach the mounting ears.
• Note that the same mounting ears are used for installation in both the 19” and 23” relay rack.
• The size of the Relay Rack in which the TELACCORD 1000 is to be installed dictates which side of the
ears should be placed next to the unit.
• The spacing of the holes drilled in the ears will allow either a 19” or 23” width when attached to the
unit.

• Attach a frame ground connection to the chassis.
• Connect the amphenol connectors to the horizontal connections on the bottom of the chassis according to
local procedures.
• Once wired, the cross-connect from the Central Office to the field is present. The chassis’ design allows a
cross-connection to be made with or without RMCs. This permits live customer service to be active during

• Multi-Chassis Assemblies
• The first assembly in a multi-assembly TELACCORD 1000 system must always be equipped
with a TCC.
• The subsequent assemblies will have an MCC or MCLK in place of the TCC, per requirements
• The Matrix Clock Card regenerates the clock signals from the Trunk Control Card in the
first TELACCORD 1000 assembly to the Relay Matrix Cards of its own TELACCORD
1000 assembly, and to the Matrix Clock Card of the next downstream (daisy chained
chassis)
• The Matrix Communication Card (MCC) is required to regenerate the Tip and Ring
connections of the Trunk Control Card after every 1,000th non-switched circuit or if there
is more than 50 feet between assemblies. The regenerated signal, therefore, supports a
maximum of five TELACCORD 1000
• To daisy chain, starting with the first assembly, connect a standard 25-pair female
connector into the “Out” side of the assembly. Using a build-out of units horizontally from
