Drinking alcohol (para. 1)
Everyone knows that people who drive after
drinking too much alcohol pose a great danger to
innocent motorists and pedestrians. But alcohol
can also be very dangerous in another way. For
example, serious problems can arise if a person
passes out or becomes unconscious after drinking
heavily. Recently, a young Taiwanese woman
died after drinking large amounts of alcohol at
her own wedding reception. This tragic event
highlights the danger of consuming too much
alcohol at one time.
How much do you remember?
• What is the topic?
• What is the first danger
related to alcohol
mentioned?
• What can happen if a
person drinks too
heavily?
• Does the paragraph
give any examples?

Mistakes we avoided:
• Reading too much.
• Using expressions we are
not familiar with and
which might not sound
natural such as “pose a
great danger to
motorists...”
• Mispronounce difficult
words such as
“unconscious”.
