LITERATURE REVIEW
 A literature review or narrative review is a type of review article.
 A literature review is a scholarly paper, which includes the current knowledge
including substantive findings, as well as theoretical and methodological
contributions to a particular topic.
 Literature reviews are a basis for research in nearly every academic field.
IMPORTANCE OF LITERATURE REVIEW
 A literature review helps you create a sense of rapport with your
audience or readers so they can trust that you have done your
homework.
 It Sharpens Your Research Focus
 Give a new interpretation of old material or combine new with old
interpretations.
 Helps in planning the methodology of the present research study.
Purposes of Literature Review

 Enables to delimit the scope and to narrow down the research


problem.
 To identify gaps in theories.
 To check consistency and continuity of existing studies and their
results.
 To demonstrate knowledge of available sources.
 To avoid duplication of work.
Process of Literature Review

 Determine the clear purpose of literature review.


 Body: Contains your discussion of sources and is organized either
chronologically, thematically, or methodologically.
 Conclusions/Recommendations: Discuss what you have drawn from
reviewing literature so far.
