Being online means being virtually connected to the World Wide
Web that offers a vast environment of information at your finger tips.
This will then take focus on the characteristic of environment
wherein you are connected- the internet. The key features of the
internet will help us technologies understand what an online
environment is.
According to Living Internet, a key attribute of the internet is
being connected ; it means that you can communicate with all that it
offers. All of the internets technologies- web, newsgroup, email,
mailing lists, IRC, MUDs- enable geographically distributed groups
of the people to communicate around the world.
