UNIT I- CASTING & WELDING

• OBJECTIVE OF THE UNIT

Understand the basics of casting and welding .
INTRODUCTION
TO CASTING

PROCESS

TYPES

APPLICATIONS
casting
• when mankind invented the metals they first thought to
use or convert the raw materials into a desire shape

EMPATHY
• Frist they tried to cut the metals to the required shape but
the critical shapes are difficult to made through this
process

• So they decided to melt the metal and pour them into a

desired shape thus the casting process invented
Casting process
1. Casting manufacturing is a process in which liquefied
material, such as molten metal, is poured into the cavity
DEFINE
of a specially designed mold and allowed to harden

2. After solidification, the work piece is removed from the

die to undergo various finishing treatments or for use as
a final product.
