What is Automation?

Automation is basically the delegation of human control

function to technical equipment for

 Increasing Productivity
 Increasing Quality
 Reducing Cost
 Increasing Safety in working conditions

What is PLC?
Input Module
The input/output channels provide isolation and signal
conditioning functions so that sensors and actuators can be
directly connected to them without the need for other
circuitry.
Output module
Types of output module
•Relay ,
• transistors ,
• triac type
SCADA
It is a soft ware which acts as an operator station. The
operator can monitor as well as control the process
parameters from this stations.
A part from online process data the operator will have
access to historical and real-time trends, alarms and
reports.
The operator can give commands to control hardware
for opening the valve, change the set point, start the
pump etc.
CAPACITIVE SENSOR

capacitive proximity sensors

produce an electrostatic field.
Capacitive proximity
switches will sense metal as well
as nonmetallic materials such
as paper, glass, liquids, and cloth
Features of typical SCADA software
 Dynamic process graphic
 Real-time and Historical trending
 Alarms
 Recipe Management
 Security
 Device connectivity
 Script for logic development
 Database connectivity
Types of sensor

•In our project we are using capacitive

proximity sensor, because the bottle is non-
metallic material glass of material.
WORKING
The sensing surface of a capacitive sensor
is formed by two concentrically shaped
metal electrodes of an unwound
capacitor. When an object nears the
sensing surface it enters
the electrostatic field of the electrodes
and changes the
capacitance in an oscillator circuit. As a
result, the oscillator
begins oscillating. The trigger circuit
reads the oscillator’s
amplitude and when it reaches a specific
level the output state
of the sensor changes
