    Medieval Age (400 – 1400)

    Renaissance (1400 – 1600)

    Baroque (1600 – 1750)

    Classical (1750 – 1825)

    Romantic (1825 - 1900)

    Modern (1900 - Present)


    Prehistoric Music
    • Music was born in this period.
    • People tried to imitate the sounds of nature.
    • They made their instruments using human and animal bones,
    tree trunks, animal leather, human hair, stones and shells.
    • They used the music for magic rituals to call natural
    phenomenon (dances for rain or sun).
    Ancient Music (Before 500 AD)
    • Some of the civilizations during this period were the Indians,
    Chinese, Egyptians, Greeks and Romans.
    • During this period we found the first written music.
    • Sometimes people gave the music some magic faculties.
    • Music was used to accompany dance, singing, poetry and in
    religious ceremonies.
