It is run into the borehole and sits on bottom, then the entire ABL is expanded all the way to the bottom using an expanding tool. Cement is then spotted to form a balanced plug, and excess cement is circulated out before pulling the running tool to the top. The cement is then allowed to set before drilling out the cement and ABL shoe to continue drilling ahead.
