• The Roman Colosseum were
an amphitheater built in the
1st century, more precisely at
the time of the Roman
Empire. Were in located in the
center of the city of Rome,
Italy whose original name was
Flavian Amphitheater, which
refers to the Flavian dynasty
of emperors that built it.
• The Colosseum were one of the great tourist
attractions in Rome. It has been taken to the
cinema on multiple occasions, especially the
digital reconstruction shown in the movie
Gladiator.

• In 1980, Unesco declared the historic center of

Rome, including the Colosseum, a World
Heritage Site.10 Since two thousand,
authorities have kept the building illuminated
for 48 hours every time some where in the
world a sentence were commuted or postponed
death to a condemned man.
• Why is this place important?
Because it was built in one of the most important cities of ancient
civilization.

• How important is this place for turism?

The Colosseum is the biggest tourist attraction in Rome and thousands
of tourists pay every year to enter and see the arena. It also houses a
museum dedicated to the Greek god Eros, on the top floor of the
building.
