COIMBATORE

ITC LIMITED
• Headquartered in Kolkata,West Bengal and Established in 1910 as Imperial Tobacco Company of India Limited
• Later renamed as India Tobacco Company Ltd in 1970 and later to ITC IN 1974.
• ITC has a diversified presence across industries such as Cigarettes, FMCG, Hotels, Packaging, Paperboards &
Specialty Papers ,Inforamation Technology and Agribusiness.
• Chairman & M.D : Sanjiv Puri
• Total Employees : 27,273 (as per 2019 report)
• Total Revenue : 52,035 Cr ( as per 2019 report )

ITC-PSPD
• ITC PSPD has its Divisional Headquarters at Hyderabad.Its regional offices are in New Delhi, Mumbai, Andhra
Pradesh, Chennai , Bangalore and Kolkata.
• It has 4 units of production at Bhadrachalam, Tribeni, Coimbatore and Bollaram.
• Coimbatore Unit has manufacturing capacity of 1.5 Lakh tonnes per annum of Duplex Boards.
• They are focused in the production of recycled boards such as Eco Nurtura, Eco Blanca and Neowhite Bliss.
• Competitors are J.K Paper Ltd , The West Coast Paper Mills Ltd , Emami Paper Mills Ltd , Satia Industries Ltd
etc...
Statement Of The Problem

• ITC Paperboards and Speciality Papers Division is India’s largest,technologically advanced


and most eco-friendly paper and paperboard business. ITC's Paperboards and Specialty
Papers Business is the leader in volume, product range, market reach and environmental
performance, and is the clear market leader in the value-added paperboards segment.
• In order to under go in a high growth by production and distribution,the firm has to bank
its on human capital.The attrition rate of ITC - PSPD, Coimbatore in the year 2017-2018 is
15.91%. Although this attrition rate has come down,what seems to be the issue is the young
talents leave the organization.Data Analysis has showed that the attrition was high among
people between 24-35 years of age(Accounting for 88% of total attrition).Hence for an
organization looking to grow exponentially in the coming years this loss of young talent at
the time when they are supposed to contribute to the business plan is the major concern.
Objective Of The Study

• The major objective was recognizing and dealing with the reasons for attrition in ITC-PSPD
Unit,Coimbatore in order to get more stability in workforce over the market which leads to dominate
over its competitors and to ensure its expansion and faster growth.
• To know the causes for attrition of employees in ITC-PSPD and the retention strategies taken in order
to encompass the organization’s ability to provide best working environment.
Scope Of The Study
• The scope of the study is limited to managers and also management staff grades and secretaries moving
out of the organization by resigning.

Limitation Of The Study


• Primary Data Collection did not happen due to COVID-19 Outbreak.
• Due to time constraints the detailed study was limited only to 3 months,whereas an overall comparative
study was made on 5 years.
• The authenticity of information provided by the documents cannot be assured.
• Analysis of the data has been done based on the assumptions that the information provided by
respondents is genuine.
Research Methodology

• Content Analysis is a research technique for making inferences by objectively and systematically
identifying specified characteristics of content of documents.This is used for gathering data from
archival records,documents,newspapers,minutes of meetings etc.
• The analysis is made through objectively and systematically.
Hypothesis
Findings

• The respondents are satisfied with the environment and nature of work factors
• The respondent’s relationship with the superiors and colleagues are quite good
• The communication and motivation of employees with their superiors in this organization is
reasonable
• The pay and promotion activities in the organization is also good
• The respondents are overall satisfied with their job.
• The employees are satisfied with welfare measures.
• The parking facilities provided by the organization are not good.That’s why most of the
respondents disagree with this question.
• The refreshment facilities are also need to be improved.
• Complaint redressal & resolution are quite good and needs to be improved

Conclusion
The analysis and interpretation of the data obtained in the present study using different tools & techniques
point out the factors which affects the employee attrition at ITC-PSPD,Kovai. Many of the suggestions and
retention strategies proposed by the researcher to reduce the occurance of attrition in the organization.
