Like the actions in sports , songs may be fast or slow . All songs
are made up of musical symbols to bring out the tune . A note
is a musical symbol that is sounded . Notes represent sounds
varied durations . A rest is also a musical symbol but it has no
sound , Each note and rest has its own value or corresponding
number of beats . The following table shows the kinds of notes
and rests with their symbols and corresponding number of
beats for each.
Two eight notes can be written together to
give an equivalent of one beat
 Four sixteenth notes can be written
together and is equivalent to one beat.
