Duration
Duration means length.
Duration can be either
Long or short.
Rhythm
Rhythm can be created when
you combine notes and rests
and put them into measures.
You must always have a time
signature to show how many
beats will go into each measure.
Notes
Notes
are the symbols for
sound in music.

Time Signature
Time Signature consists of
numbers that tell how many
beats will be in each measure
of music.

A staff is 5 lines and 4 spaces
that the music notes go up and
down on. It looks like this:

A G Clef is found at the
beginning of each staff. It
looks like this:

A G-clef shows you where the


g line is on the staff.
Melody

Melody is a line of notes that go


up or down on a staff to create
high and low pitches.

The musical alphabet is:
