• On July 18,1947, the Indian independence act of 1947, a great land mark
in the Anglo – Indian relation received. The royal assent to give effect to
the Mountbatten plan for the partition of India and the establishment of
the two dominions of India and Pakistan.
• Pakistan from it’s very inception faced a large number of problems some
of the major problems were:-

• Shortage of resources
• Burning of records and loss of lives
• Capital city of new establishment
Refugee Problems And Their Resettlement
• Anti Muslim riots
• Merciless killing
• Wounded and hungry people
• Requirement of essential resources

• Reaction of people
Distribution Of Assets
• Obstinate policy of congress and Hindus
• November 1947 conference
Distribution Of Armed Forces
• Commander in chief of armed forces
• 1/3 military equipment were given to Pakistan
• Ordanance factories to Pakistan
• Hindus created many hurdles…

• Adaption of India act of 1935
• Selfish people to interfere with democratic progress in Pakistan
Language Controversy
• 1952 east Pakistan recognize Bengali was national language of Pakistan
• Clashes b/w Urdu and Bengali language
• 1956 constitution Urdu and Bengali got equal rank
The Problems Accession Of States
• At the time of Indian independence, these princely state was given to
option acceed either to India or Pakistan or to remain independent.
• However, the future of three princely states ( Hyderabad, junagadh and
Kashmir) remain undecided and created conflict b/w India and Pakistan
Major Issues Of Princely States
• Such rules of states were advised according to the cabinet mission plan of 1946 to join Pakistan or
India
• The same principle was violated by India in the case of east Punjab state
• Population of Jammu and Kashmir / conflict in Kashmir
• The junagadh and manavadar affairs
• Routes of river flow from Kashmir into Pakistan
• Massacre of Muslim mujahedeen of poonch
• An agreement b/w maharaja and leadership of Pakistan
• Security council adopted two resolutions
Main Points Of Security Council Resolution

• On August 12,1948 and January 5,1949 the security council adopted two
resolutions:
• Ceasefire should attonce be enforced and line of control b/w azad Kashmir
and occupied Kashmir should be decided under the supervision of the UN
commission
• Both the government should withdrawn their forces from Kashmir
• The plebiscite should be held under the auspices of the united nation
