WHAT IS THE

CAPTION?
noun : a title or brief explanation appended to an article, illustration, cartoon, or poster.
sinonim : little, heading, wording, head, legend, subtitle,etc.

verb : provide (an illustration) with a title or explanation.


PURPOSE OF CAPTION
• The purpose of caption text is to help the reader
understand information that may or may not be in
the text
LINGUISTIC ELEMENTS
OF THE CAPTION
1. Adjective phrases is a group of words that describe a noun or pronoun in a sentence.
Ex : The movie was not too terribly long.
2. Participal phrases is dressed up like verbs, but they function as adjective to describe nouns.
Ex : The broken window needed to get repaired quickly.
(broken is the past participate. It modifies window)
3. Invinitive phrases is the infinitive form of a verb plus any complements (direct object) and modifiers (adverb).
Ex : To dance is thrilling for me.
(to dance is invinitive. It function as a noun in the sentence, acting as a subject)
4. Question is a type of sentence that requires an answer.
Ex : Who will be the governor of Jakarta?
