Q2. Why are Consumers preferring Competitors than
Starbucks in morning time?
1. Intense competition: Fast food chains like McDonald’s, Dunkin Donuts etc had
increased their offerings to include breakfast items, coffee, morning beverages
and much more. This provided customers with an increased number of options
for their breakfast, due to which Starbucks was not the only choice anymore.
2. Menu size: Starbucks decided to focus on growth in every aspect , including the
number of offerings. Due to the vast menu, employees found it hard to keep up
with them , which led to poor communication, increased wrong orders, customer
dissatisfaction and poor management.
3. Décor: Starbucks was no longer focussed on the coffee experience due to the
ever increasing menu size. This took away from the décor , as its characteristic,
rich coffee aroma was compromised for other food items. Starbucks was no
longer the haven for coffee lovers, it became one of the many fast food options
for a customer.
