Objectives
1.Reduces the Waste of Water and Electricity
2. Automatic ON or OFF the Water Irrigation
pump
Circuit Diagram For Power Supply
Circuit Diagram
Apparatus
1. Ardunio Board Uno
2. DC Power Supply(6V)
3. Soil Moisture Sensor
4. Water Pump
5. Transistor(2N222A )
6. Resistor(1k)
7. Connecting Wire
Working
• The project is designed to develop an
automatic irrigation system which switches
the pump motor ON/OFF on sensing the
moisture content of the soil. In the field of
agriculture, use of proper method of irrigation
is important. The advantage of using this
method is to reduce human intervention and
still ensure proper irrigation.
• The project uses an Arduino Uno Board which
is programmed to receive the input signal of
varying moisture condition of the soil through
the sensing arrangement. This is achieved by
using an op-amp as comparator which acts as
interface between the sensing arrangement
and the microcontroller. Once the controller
receives this signal
, it generates an output that drives the water
pump. If Moisture is less then Pump would be
automatic getting ON then become water is
full then pump is getting OFF.
Advantages
• 1.Highly sensitive , Low cost
• 2.Works according to soil condition
• 3.Complete elimitation of manpower
• 4. System can be switched into manual mode
whenever required
Disadvantages

1. Equipment is costlier
2. Require frequent maintenance for efficient operation
Application
• Irrigation in Field
• Irrigation in Garden, Parks
• Verry Efficient for Paddy and Rice Field
Future Extension
The working of project is basically dependent
on the output of moisture sensor. Whenever
there is need of excess water in the desired
field then it will not be not possible by using
sensor technology. For this we will have to
adopt the DTMF technology(Dual-tone multi-
frequency signaling). By using this we will be
able to irrigate the desired field & in desired
amount.
Conclusion
• In present days especially farmers are facing major
major problems in watering their agriculture fields,
it’s because they have no proper idea about when
power is available so that they can pump water.
Even after then they need to wait until the field is
properly watered, which makes them to stop doing
other activities. Here is an idea which helps not only
farmers even for watering the garden aslo, which
senses the soil moisture and switches the pump
automatically when the power is ON
