This document discusses compound vapor compression refrigeration systems, including multiple evaporator systems, cascade refrigeration systems, and refrigeration equipment. It then provides details about a 15 ton ammonia refrigeration plant that uses two-stage compression with water intercooling and subcooling. The condenser, evaporator, and intercooler pressures are given, as well as the limiting temperature for intercooling and subcooling. The document asks to draw the refrigeration cycle on a p-h chart and calculate the plant COP, power required for each compressor, and swept volume of the compressors given their volumetric efficiency.

In a 15 TR ammonia plant, compression is carried out in two stages with water and flash intercooling and water subcooling. The condenser pressure, evaporator pressure and flash intercooler pressure are 12 bar, 3 bar and 6 bar respectively. The limiting temperature for intercooling and subcooling is 200C. Draw the cycle on p-h chart and estimate: 1) the C.O.P. of the plant, 2) the power required for each compressor, and 3) the swept volume for the compressor if the volumetric efficiency of both the compressors is 82%.
