Climate change, also called global warming,

refers to the rise in average surface

temperatures on Earth. An overwhelming
scientific consensus maintains that climate
change is due primarily to the human use of
fossil fuels, which releases carbon dioxide
and other greenhouse gases into the air.

AGRICULTURE
EXTREME TEMPERATURE AND PRECIPITATION
DUE TO DROUGHT CAN HINDER TH EGROWING
CROPS. EXTREME EVENTS PARTICULARLY
DROUGHTS CAN DESTROY CROPS AND
DECREASE YIELDS.
CLIMATE CHANGE CAN ALSO RESULT TO SPREAD
OF PARASITES AND DISEASES THAT AFFECT
LIVESTOCK.
IMPACT ON WATER SUPPLY AND QUALITY

OVER THE NEXT CENTURY, THESE

AREAS ARE EXOECTED TO EXPERIENCE
DECREASING WATER RESOURCES
PARITCULARLY IN AREAS EXPERIENCING
DROUGHTS, POPULATION PRESSURES,
AND WATER RESOURCE EXTRACTION.
IMPACTS ON HUMAN HEALTH

 CLIMATE CHANGE CAN ENDANGER THE HEALTH OF PEOPLE.

 THE REDUCTION IN AIR QUALITY THAT COMPLEMENTS HEAT WAVE CAN CAUSE
BREATHING PROBLEMS AND RESPIRATORY DISEASES.
 CLIMATE CHANGE CAN AFFECT THE SUPPLY OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS AND
DISCRUPT THE BALANCE OF FOOD SYSTEMS

Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda)
 The deadliest typhoon to impact the Philippines was
Typhoon Haiyan, locally known as Yolanda, in November
2013, in which more than 6,300 lives were lost from its
storm surges and powerful winds. Over 1,000 went missing
and nearly 20,000 were injured. Winds reached 315 km/h
(196 mph; 170 km; 88 m/s) in one–minute sustained and
may have been the strongest storm in history in terms of
wind speeds as wind speeds before the 1970s were too
high to record.
