What is Pronouns ?
-Pronouns are words that take the
place of nouns.

-We often use them to avoid

repeating the nouns that they refer
to.

-Pronouns have different forms for

the different ways we use them.

any person, amount, or thing in

QUANTITATIVE/
DISTRIBUTIVE
PRONOUNS

“ The pronouns that refer to

persons or
things taken one at a time are
called Distributive.”

to refer to every person or thing
among a group separately rather
than collectively
Examples :
Each Neither Either
Each students of this class Neither road is Either girl is fit
is brilliant. safe. for the role.
Here ‘each’ refers to every It means both of
student in the class It means none the girls are fit for
separately. of the two the role.

class separately.
Examples :
Each Neither Either

Neither is a It is distributive
Here ‘each’ refers to

at a time. one by one.
So we had seen that these distributive pronoun took
singular noun (is) after them,

But If we use ‘either’, ‘neither’ and ‘each’ as

‘either of’, ‘neither of’ and ‘each of’ ,
They become plural pronoun and then they take
plural noun but singular verb.
Example
Each of these
dresses is beautiful.

1. Each of is distributive pronoun

2. Dresses is plural noun
3. Is is singular verb

If you use each of, you have to use plural
noun and singular verb.
Take a breath :)
