Restore-A-Phase

• Used for Temporary Power Restoration


• Used when two conductors are available (conductor /neutral,
conductor/conductor)
• Auto transformer (7.5kVA per unit) 32 Amp
• 3 unit Stackable operation allows up to 96 Amp Temporary Service

Safety First
• Follow all company safety protocol for inspection and removal of meter.
• ALWAYS- Make sure you have two good service conductors prior to installing
RaP. The Super Beast or Mega Beast are great tools for this inspection.
• Notify customer that you will be installing this tool and they shall not tamper
or allow children to play near the RaP until you repair their service.
• If possible, Have customer turn OFF main breaker at Breaker Panel.
• ALWAYS- Seal and Lock- ALL hardware and meter to meter base when RaP is
installed on service.
Isolate the Good and Bad

• Remove meter from socket and inspect socket


for any other problems or tampering.
• Determine if there are two good service
conductors available.
• RaP must not be used if two good conductors
are not available. (Two hot legs, or One hot leg
and One neutral)
• Isolate and disconnect bad conductor at
transformer and meter socket
Customer Service- Safety

• Have Customer Turn-OFF Main Breaker at


Load.
• Advise Customer of ALL Safety Hazards with
overloading their Temporary Service
• Temporary Service should only be used for a
limited time to run essential household items.
Installing RaP

• Place RaP near meter socket where Buddy Base will


reach socket
• Install Temporary Ground rod. If customer’s ground
rod is good, this is acceptable for establishing ground.
• Connect Temporary Ground rod to stud on right side
of RaP with suitable sized cable. (#2 or greater is
recommended)
• Install Neutral Cable on back of Buddy Base to
Neutral in Meter Base. This is a temporary
connection, but it must be tight.
Installing RaP

• Breakers are located in the front panel of the


Master unit.
• Make sure breakers are turned OFF anytime
you are installing, removing or adding any
units
• Turn breakers on before closing securing and
locking lid
Installing RaP

• Secure Buddy Base into Meter Socket with three


(3) brass screws on side of Base.
• Turn ON RaP main breaker. Make any voltage
checks if needed
• Turn OFF RaP main breaker
• Install Meter into Buddy Base. Secure Meter.
• Turn ON RaP main breaker
• Use appropriate locking devices such as meter
rings or padlocks to secure all components

• Inform customer that service has been


temporarily restored and they can turn on the
main breaker. If breaker on RaP trips, inform
customer to reduce load until service can be
repaired.
• One Master Unit = 32Amp Continous
• Master and Booster = 64Amp Continuous
• Master/(2) Boosters= 96Amp Continuous
Installing Booster Units

• Unlock Master unit door and raise lid.


• Two (2), 4-pin receptacles are available to add
two (2) Booster units
• Turn-OFF breakers when adding Booster units
to avoid damage to Master or Booster units
Installing Booster Units

• Plastic Hole Plugs on a small cord shall be


installed when no Booster is in use and can be
removed when adding Booster units
• Remove plugs to allow Booster cable access to
Master unit receptacles when in the closed and
locked position.
Disconnecting RaP after Service Repair

• Tell customer you are ready to reconnect Full Repaired Service


• Have customer turn off house appliances then Main Breaker at Breaker panel.
• Turn OFF Main Breaker and Booster breakers on RaP
• Unlock Meter and RaP Buddy Base and pull from socket
• Reinstall Meter and Locking devices per company code
